Palate Profile

Chateau La Tour Carnet was ranked as the fourth growth winery in the Médoc classification in 1855. After the winery was acquired by Bernard Magrez in 2000, the quality has greatly improved. Parker called it the most cost-effective among all classified wineries.

Critic Awards

Barrel sample. Wood and mint aromas yield a wine that is darkly tannic, with a distinct black-coffee flavor. It's a powerful, concentrated wine with fruit hiding behind the dense structure.

The nose is elegant and fine. It revealss notes of wild strawberry, black fruit and slight notes of pepper and rose. The palate is silky, mineral and balanced. In the mouth it expresses notes of strawberry and blackberry associated with a few notes of raspberry, cherry and spice. The tannins are fine, firm and relatively elegant. Good length.

Deep, vibrant red. Fairly subdued nose opening up to black fruit tones and a touch of roasted coffee. Lovely substance, softness and nicely open aromas on the palate. Focused, persistent, fruit-forward finish.

A soft and silky wine with currant, spice and earth character. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Very pretty.

Its excellent dense ruby/purple color, sweet cassis, black cherry fruit, supple tannins, medium to full body and attractive, long finish make for an impressive wine that should drink nicely for 10-15 years. It’s already accessible. This is another wine that performed dramatically better from the bottle than from barrel tastings.
