Palate Profile
Château La Tour Carnet is a Left Bank Haut-Médoc estate and one of the 10 châteaux designated as Fourth Growths in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. The estate and some of the structures of the château date back to the 12th Century. La Tour Carnet makes both red and white Bordeaux blends but only the red wines carry Haut-Médoc on the label – the white carries the broader Bordeaux Blanc AOC.
In 1999, Carnet was bought by businessman Bernard Magrez who owns a number of wine labels in and out of Bordeaux, including Pessac-Léognan winery Château Pape Clément. Magrez increased the property size of Carnet as well as the percentage of Merlot in the vineyards.

Deep dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate lightening of the edges, fine nuances of figs and prunes, delicate herbal spices, candied orange zest. Juicy, round and equipped with sweet cherry fruit, ripe, present tannins, chocolatey finish, good length.
The deep garnet-purple colored 2017 la Tour Carnet opens with scents of cassis, plums and cherries with nuances of earth, tar and pencil shavings. Medium-bodied, it's just a little thin and chewy in the mouth but provides interesting fruit layers and pleasing harmony.
Juicy, compact, just a touch dry in the finish; has found a better balance, very reliable, also given its moderate price for a crus classé, pleasing development.
